![]() It's funny, but this time of year when many blogs take a holiday break, it's MY chance to play at some new challenges. Sometimes it's even the best scenario possible, like today at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown's "any challenge from this year" theme! I picked up the November sketch to play with! For today's card, I couldn't resist another crack at our pretty two-step pinecones in Christmas Season, now that I have the knack down, lol. I added a little glitter detail to them this time, too, I love the frosty look of them! Finishing with a few Wonderful Gems gives just a pop of extra color, too! ![]() I'm super excited I just have time to squeeze in at Just Add Ink #585 for Christmas packaging - yay for a two week run! Lol... This was good timing, because I was just throwing together a little gift-card-and-a-cookie for our newspaper girl - she's been doing a good job, stepping into the shoes of the older gent that used to do it, and only a middle schooler! I'm impressed she can get up that early so consistently, lol. Anyway, I set up a little folding table with a note of thanks on it for her, along with this gable box, with an Amazon card and a cookie inside. I hope she'll appreciate it - she works hard! I couldn't resist another penguin tag, I had so much fun with those others - I added a little scrap DSP band to this one! Penguin Place Stamp Set; Penguin Playmates DSP; Lustrous White Mini Gable Boxes; Basic White & Fresh Freesia CS; Fresh Freesia, Balmy Blue & Just Jade Inks; Tailor Made Tags Dies; Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon; White Baker's Twine; Fresh Freesia Jewels; #JAI585. ![]() Pumpkin Club January 1! So pretty! When I blow up the challenge pic, that center gray actually looks like Silver Glimmer to me - yay! After a little digging, I came up with this combo for my "elegant Christmas!" I dug through my retired Plaid Tidings paper pack for this pretty soft gray flannel, then cute some Silver Glimmer trees with the retired Pine Woods dies - love these... Some Wintry embossed pine seemed a natural match, along with this gorgeous sentiment from Christmas to Remember. I was all over the place today! I took a minute to think about what I think "contemporary" means - it was a little tough for me! Geometrics, bold colors and silhouettes, photo landscapes, I settled on two for today's card. First off, I knew I wanted my background to be something from my beloved Feels Like Frost paper collection, I picked this one tones of blue, because well, GUYZ, lol. Next up, a pretty holiday silhouette could be found in my Dashing Deer bundle - I love these graceful antlers so much! ll that was left was to heat emboss a sentiment, and finish with three tiny rhinestones. Yay! Love them! I decided I couldn't resist re-creating this little gang, and I went straight to my Snow Place set from 2015 to do it! I love this set for a the little snowman wardrobe pieces in it, and of course the dies for each and every piece, lol. It was a snap to set up three snowman in the cute colors on the cupcakes. I guess mine are a little less portly, lol! I even added a Real Red layer to pick up those cupcake wrappers! I pulled out my little festive hedgehog, from Joyful Life, for today's card. I don't know, something about that little apron just gets to me, lol. I tried to stick to the CAS brief, but added some dimension to jazz it up a little, and of course, a little sprinkle of Wonderful Gems. This little cutie is so easy to color with our Blends Markers! Joyful Life & For Unto Us Stamp Sets; Basic White CS; Cherry Cobbler & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; Cherry Cobbler, Granny Apple Green, Crumb Cake & Smoky Slate Blends Markers; Wonderful Gems; #CASOF220. ![]() Oo, In{k}spire Me #465 is back with a new set of colors for Christmas! These colors look a lot to me like they came from the Whimsy & Wonder suite - alas, I let this one slip by, lol. But what else could I do with the colors? I decided to go for a Whimsy version of our Christmas Season set, lol. I started with a nice block of Misty Moonlight DSP from the Penguin Playmates DSP, then built some sprigs and berries with the remaining colors. I was able to achieve two tines of the Mint Macaron with some strategic stamping off and layering. I tucked everything behind this sweet sentiment, and finished with some pretty pearls. Whew! These were hard colors for me! The Sisterhood of Crafters last challenge of the year is perfectly timed - holiday gift tags! I'm always scrambling for some cute tags about now! I knew right away I felt like fussy cutting today, so I went to town on my lingering Penguin Playmates DSP that retired from our last Sale-A-Bration - so much fun! They look perfect on the largest Tailor Made Tag, and I did the little coordinating tab for each of them, too. I added the To/From that came with Bright Baubles, and finish with White Baker's Twine. Love them! While I know they're current (and AWESOME!) I couldn't resist using the Tailor Made Tags for this one! And don't I have JUST the alphabet to go with! I am such a sucker for alphabet sets, I think I have just about every one I've ever gotten, and it's enough to alphabetize the world, believe me, lol. Today's gem is 2014's Skinny Mini Alphabet - I love this font so much, and it's the perfect size for these tiny tags! I floated a layered wreath behind it using the retired wreath builder dies - I really like how this came out! Now that my Christmas cards are all mailed, this is a pretty kickoff to restocking the box, lol. In{k}spire Me #464 has launched their Christmas celebrations with these lovely traditional colors! I can't help seeing these colors through my SU! goggles, lol, so I went with Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Real Red & Old Olive. At the last second, I tossed in some Mossy Meadow for a little green variation! I went straight to last year's Peace & Joy set, too, because I knew I could boost my color count with the gorgeous layered sentiment dies that go with it - what's not to love?? I did the full three layers today (let's not talk about dotting the "i" - it was a not a merry business, lol) and surrounded it all with the pretty greenery also in the set. I couldn't resist a few bright stars to finish. This is so classic, I think - and playful!
