Check out our pretty throwback sketch this week at Try Stampin' on Tuesday #527! I used to have so many of those big gorgeous background swirls - I can't believe I don't have ANY anymore, lol. But I love that so many images can be turned in to a lovely background, like this pretty fern sprig in Positive Thoughts - I so love the dies with this set! And since it had been an age, well, it needed a little ink, lol. A pretty hello card for sure, and I get to use one of my last scraps for my Harvest Meadow DSP! I can't wait to see YOUR projects for this one - see you at the challenge! Positive Thoughts Stamp Set; Harvest Meadow DSP; Basic White, Crumb Cake, Soft Sea Foam & Sahara Sand CS; Early Espresso & Pear Pizzazz Inks; Blender Pen; Nature's Thoughts & Stitched Shapes (retired) Dies; Blue Sequins; #TSOT527.

Oo, a very fun shape challenge this week at Less is More #452 - hexagons! My mind immediately went to last year's Honey Bee set - I remembered there being a little honeycomb die in there, and I was right! Everyone's favorite hexagon! I cut one out in Basic Gray, and did some inlay in Bumblebee for the honey - of course, lol! After that, all I did was add a pretty bee, and a sweet sentiment to the side. That's all we need, right? Honey Bee Stamp Set (retired 2020); Basic White, Basic Gray & Bumblebee CS; Basic Gray Ink; Daffodil Delight Blends Marker; Detailed Bees Dies; #LIM452. We're seeing all the angles at this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday #526! Now, how to work in our Oktoberfest theme for SU Only #285?? I'm just gonna put right out there that I feel like a bit of a poser for this one - my family is from Ireland, and we don't have much of an Oktoberfest tradition, lol. We have our own beer holidays! So I had to actually look up "Oktoberfest Symbols" online to get some ideas, well, besides beer, lol. How, I wonder, have I gone my whole life with no pretzel stamp?? I'm sandboxing that one, lol. Anyway, here's what I came up with: beer, cheese and mustaches, baby! Good times! I'm even almost in German flag colors! I can't wait to see YOUR projects for this one - slainte! Mixed Drinks & Picnic With You Stamp Sets (both retired 2018); Basic White, Basic Black, So Saffron & Cajun Craze CS; Versamark & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; White Gel Pen; Mustache Die (retired); #TSOT526; #SUOC285. Argh! As You See It #259 is really putting it to us this week, with a humorous speed challenge! OK, time to assemble materials, starting with the stamp set. I thought right away of 2018's Dad Jokes, but then I remembered, don't I have a woman pun, too? Hold it! I actually have a couple, in 2010's Favorite Thoughts, but my fave is this great quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, lol. My mind was off and running at this point. Could I "make" a teabag from vellum? Fingers crossed, lol. I started the clock, quick cut my layers, stamped my sentiment, ran to the Big Shot, cut it out, and embossed my background layer and envelope flap while I was there. At that point, I spent 3 whole minutes fiddling with the vellum to get the shape I wanted, and everything stapled. All assembled - ding ding ding! 8 minutes, 33 seconds. Whew! Favorite Thoughts (retired 2010); Basic White, Crumb Cake, Vellum & Merry Merlot CS; Early Espresso Ink; Timber EF; Rectangle Stitched Dies; Heart to Heart Punch (retired); White Baker's Twine; Stapler; #AYSI259. I LOVE this week's code word at Addicted to CAS #206 - "leaf!" I went straight for my Love of Leaves set for this one! The shapes and shading of the stamps is perfect, the sentiments are super sweet, AND they have the amazing dies to go with! That's the part I focused on today, and I tried them out on the gorgeous Beauty of the Earth DSP, so I could get even more green shading in there! I love the stitch detail for the leaf veins so much! I put in just a few Old Olive Enamel Dots, too, but it's still pretty spare! Love of Leaves Stamp Set; Beauty of the Earth DSP; Basic White CS; Evening Evergreen Ink; Stitched Leaves Dies; Old Olive Enamel Dots; #ATC206. Pumpkin Club September 25! Wow, The Male Room #154 has a great theme for us for a guy - "nature's bounty!" Perfect time of year for it, too! Even though we're JUST outside harvest time for blueberries, I couldn't help but think of this set when I thought about "nature's bounty." A bowl of sweet berries is IT! I even still have a few sheets of the Berry Delightful DSP to match up, too, so I chose this manly blue check for an accent. I stamped up a little blueberry sprig, did a bit of fussy cutting, and then realized this set also has the perfect sentiment! See, blueberries really do make it all better! Berry Blessings (retired 2021); Berry Delightful DSP (retired); Basic White CS; Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, Night of Navy & Pacific Point Inks; Stitched Shapes Dies; Blue Rhinestones; #TMR154. So many fun layers at this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday #524, and there's a perfect feature space for our "people" challenge at SU Only #284, too! I started by browsing for a likely "people" set - I actually don't get too many that have people in them, not counting Santa, lol. I'm more of a critter girl, I guess! I do still have my beloved Tote-ally Tess from 2010, though, and it's hard to resist pulling her out when I get the chance! Here she is in full-on crafter mode - don't we all wish we had a Granny Apple Green apron?? I can't wait to see YOUR projects, for both our challenges today! Meet you there! Tote-ally Tess Stamp Set (retired 2010); Pattern Party DSP; Basic White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Granny Apple Green Inks; Cajun Craze, Mango Melody, Petal Pink, Night of Navy & Smoky Slate Blends Markers; Ovals Collection Dies (retired); Loose Flower Flourishes; #TSOT524; #SUOC284. Very nice - Retro Rubber #166 has a lovely pic for our inspiration this week - celebrating the dog days! I went back through the shelves of retirement looking for some likely candidates, picked up Varied Vases, then thought, where's the other one? It had some different stems in it, too! I found Vibrant Vases in my For Sale box (GASP!) and pulled it immediately. Curse you, Retro Rubber (with love, lol) you've lightened my For Sale box again! I love this sentiment from that set, which I believe first came out in 2019, though it only retired last year. I even still had the punch! Vibrant Vases Stamp Set (retired 2020); Pattern Party DSP; Basic White, Mango Melody & Granny Apple Green CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Mango Melody, So Saffron & Granny Apple Green Blends Markers; Stitched Shapes Dies (retired); Sequins For Everything; #RRCB166. We have the perfect code word this week at Addicted to CAS #205 - "nature!" I turned again to my new Beauty of Tomorrow suite - today I'm plying a little more with the pretty dies. Check out all these pretty leaves! There are 3 different sizes, and the middle size has multiple dies for batch cutting! I chose three Fall colors, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry, and created a little swirl around this oversize sentiment - such a pretty scripty font! Beauty of Tomorrow Stamp Set; Basic White, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie & Crushed Curry CS; Early Espresso & Cajun Craze (on envelope) Inks; Beautiful Leaves Dies; Genial Gems; #ATC205. Such an elegant sketch Hand Stamped Sentiments #371 has for us this week! As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew I wanted to do the spotlight technique, and that I wanted to do it with Delicate Dahlias - what a chance! In the end, it took me three tries to get to this final card, mainly because at first I tried to make the spotlight portion NOT have the line art. It was just too indistinct, sigh, but on the other hand, I'm SO happy with this result in the end! I even got to feature my fave color combo of purple and green, lol. Can't go wrong there! Delicate Dahlias Stamp Set; Basic White & Soft Sea Foam CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Highland Heather & Soft Sea Foam Inks; Stitched Shapes Dies (retired); Hope Box Paper Pumpkin Sequins; #HSS371.
