![]() Hm, I'm noticing a trend in my usual sketch haunts this week, sort of a double or triplet shape theme, lol. All the sketches show them as circles, and I am scratching my head trying to keep each card fresh and unique! So for this week's Freshly Made Sketch #99, I abandoned the circles, and went straight to my favorite leaf set! This also gave me the chance to finally ink up another Convention acquisition - Tags 4 You. You know how excited when a new punch shape makes the scene! Tags 4 You & Gently Falling stamp sets; Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze & Very Vanilla CS; Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze & Always Artichoke inks; Corner Rounder & Label Bracket punches; Woodgrain embossing folder; Designer Naturals button; Linen Thread. ![]() Oh cool, time for another installment of My Pumpkin Challenge's August "All Goes!" This time, I knew I wanted use more of the latest kit - "Party Pennants." The size of the banner pieces really made me think of a gift bag - how to dress it up?? So I started by rooting through my accessory stash to see what I had in the coordinating colors, and this is where I ended up! I also got a chance to break out the awesome Simply Created Build A Banner kit - even if you never make a banner (and I don't know why you wouldn't!) the stencils alone are worth their weight in gold! I used one of them to place the polka dots on my gift bag - worked like a charm! I'll be saving this for hubby's birthday in October - yay! July Paper Pumpkin - Party Pennants; plus, Kraft gift bag (eBay by the case!); Summer Starfruit, Tangerine Tango & Island Indigo inks; Apothecary Accents Framelits; Essentials Piercing Template; Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon; Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin; Simply Created Build A Banner kit. ![]() Also, for this week's Paper Craft Crew #54, I knew I wanted to pull out my new "Thanksgiving" sets, and maybe make something autumnal out of them. This is the result. I have to say, I find Sahara Sand to be a challenging color to work with! I decided that I thought it was best set off with white, but that sort of clashed with my Fall theme, so, well, I feel like I've been tinkering long enough, and it's time to stop! I think it should be like emissions, lol. You know, after you've spent enough $$ on a bad test, you get to stop where you are? After you spend enough time on a card, you have to be courageous enough to quit while you're ahead! Sahara Sand & Always Artichoke get to be one of my new fave color combos, though! Make sure to stop by Paper Craft Crew and play along - can't wait to see what YOU can do! Truly Grateful & Magnificent Maple stamp sets; Sahara Sand, Always Artichoke & Whisper White CS; Sweater Weather DSP; Early Espresso, Crushed Curry, Always Artichoke; Cajun Craze & Soft Suede inks; Deco Labels & Bitty Banners framelits; Woodgrain embossing Folder; Regals Candy Dots. ![]() You know, I got to thinking about how ironic it is that I'm playing with all these Fall-themed cards while it's still 115 degrees out here in Arizona, lol. I have to be honest - we don't really have Fall here. I DO miss it - especially the leaves turning the way they did back in Virginia. Even when we take a leaf-peep ride up to the Mogollon Rim, there aren't enough different kinds of trees to really give the full spectrum I used to see "Back East!" So, I have to make do with my stamps and inks! This week's Paper Craft Crew #51 was just right for getting into Autumn - make sure to go check out the other awesome creations, too! Magnificent Maple, Truly Grateful & Best of Greetings stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango & Very Vanilla CS; Sweater Weather DSP; Chocolate Chip; Cajun Craze * Crushed Curry inks; Corner Rounder & Dotted Ribbon Border punches; Brights Candy Dots; Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon. ![]() Yay - Holiday Catalog pre-order is HERE! New toys and stamps to play with! This week's Freshly Made Sketches #94 was just right for trying out some of my new goodies. This Burlap Ribbon is SO cool! However, I found that I was happiest with keeping it where I wanted it when I used Sticky Strip to hold it down - whew! I had fun building my own background paper, too - how does Stampin' Up! always seem able to make the dimensions work out just right? Truly Grateful stamp set; Naturals Ivory, Soft Suede & Early Espresso CS; Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry, Baked Brown Sugar & Crumb Cake inks; 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon; Corner Rounder Punch. ![]() Wow, this morning's Sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #61 was a double challenge for me today! I wanted to find a way to not only make this dramatic sketch have some extra pop, but I needed to pull it together in the only half-hour I expect to have to myself today, LOL! I think I made it! Lovely As A Tree is one Stampin' Up's! longest running stamp sets - it was originally designed by Shelli's sister, I believe... It needs to see more ink in my world, I figure, and with Thanksgiving on the brain, this is where I landed! Lovely As A Tree & Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets; Soft Suede, More Mustard & Very Vanilla CS; Orchard Harvest DSP; 7/8" Natural Cotton ribbon; 1/4" Early Espresso Taffeta ribbon; Word Window punch. ![]() Well, time for another color challenge from Fab Friday 06! While I feel like I've resigned myself to taking on these challenges, this one was even tougher than usual for me - FOUR colors, and not ones that I have a lot of DSP for, sigh... But I made do! On top of all this, I recently started following the blog of Amy Storrie, of Stamped With Joy. She just posted the cutest little card I've seen in a while, using the For The Birds stamp set, which I just got myself. She used this sketch from the Paper Craft Crew - not a sketch challenge I had heard of before, and it was NIFTY! I'll have to monitor these folks for sketch material - but I can't subscribe, I promise. Maybe an occasional peeky, or something... Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set; Crumb Cake, Midnight Muse, More Mustard & Cajun Craze CS; Orchard Party & Patio Party DSP; Autumn Accents die; Chevron, Square Lattice, Perfect Polka Dot & Woodgrain embossing folders; Brushed Bronze Specialty button; 1/8" Early Espresso Taffeta ribbon & ink. ![]() Here was a quick Thanksgiving card I made for the Mtview Holiday Boutique - what a blast it was! I had SO much fun - they were truly a wonderful group of people, welcoming and loving, and definitely soothing my first-show jitters in a a very reassuring way. I have the bug now - I'm already planning next year's table! Big plans! More Mustard, Cajun Craze & Very Vanilla CS; Autumn Spice Specialty DSP (retired); Day of Gratitude stamp set; Victoria lace ribbon trim. |
