Lovin' that tilty panel at this week's Freshly Made Sketch #181! Think I'll match this up with this week's bright color challenge at Nacho Average Challenge #136! Now that we're approaching that nervous time of year (retirement lists come out April 21, sob), I am making more of an effort to ink up stamps that I pass over too often. Seeing how much I LOVE this one, I'm a bit embarrassed how little I use it. I love seeing bright paper lanterns setting off a fun evening! Turns out, Happy Congratulations is a great set for a color challenge, too - just make the globes the challenge colors, duh! Now, I also have to laugh at myself over this card, because I SAMJ'ed the heck out of this envelope - took more time than the card, lol... You can't even really see it in this pic! But hey, I love my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, too! Happy Congratulations Stamp Set; Lullaby DSP; Whisper White, Bermuda Bay & Strawberry Slush CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Strawberry Slush, Hello Honey & Bermuda Bay Inks; Brights Button in Bermuda Bay; Hello Honey Heavy Baker's Twine (split down); Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine; Banner Punch (for flagging the sentiment.)

OK, this week's Retro Sketch #159 is ADORABLE! Love that little banner garland! Even though it's technically retired now, I had to use the Sale-A-Bration You Brighten My Day banner stamp on this one, and of course, I went nutso with the colors! My philosophy is, when you can't make up your mind, have ALL the desserts, know what I mean? I kept up with the "Yay" theme, and snuck on a little wavy "congrats," too! This will be a fun one to give! You Brighten My Day, Balloon Bash & Something to Say Stamp Sets; Birthday Bash DSP; Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive & Whisper White CS; Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point & Rich Razzleberry Inks; White Baker's Twine; Banner Punch; Bitty Banners Framelits. Mother's Day Corsage Class I am so excited to announce this class - and I'm THRILLED with how our project came out! You will be, too! This month we will be making a beautiful corsage for that special lady in your life: Mom, BFF, inspiration in your life (maybe even yourself - you deserve it!) - to wear again and again. The corsage is made up with a sample of each flower type in the gorgeous Build A Bouquet Project kit from our Occasions Mini catalog, and comes with a hat pin and stopper for fixing in place. I have prepped each kit for us, and divvied everything out ahead of time to make this class ride on rails: I'll be working right along with you to help further explain all the tricks I learned along the way! Class is still on for Saturday, April 11, 3 pm, chez Heroldt. Class is $20, and includes all supplies and instructions, plus snacks, drinks and a gift! Just bring your usual kit, and a hot glue gun! RSVP now so I can make sure to have your supplies prepped and ready for you! (And be sure to let me know if you need different dates - I'm always happy to work with your schedule!) Oh wow, check out the different sized card base at this week's Freshly Made Sketch #176! Eek! Can I do this? OK, we'll skip right over how many times my resolve wavered and I started to do a regular landscape card. I persevered! I don't know how I'll store this giant card, but I did it! I envisioned a nice fancy wedding card, that I could use the beautiful Something Borrowed DSP for. This let me stick to just one ink color, too, so I knew I needed to really pull out the stops for my decorative border. That definitely took the most tinkering. In the end I went with this stamped border from Bordering Blooms, and hand-trimmed to give some visual interest. Whew. PS. Yes, I made my own envelope for this one, and yes, I used the envelope punch board. It took me a while to find the measurements I needed, so I figure I'll just note them for you! Start with a 10 1/2" square, and your punch/score line is 3 3/8". You have to flip and rotate the square a bit out of order so that you can make the long score line - it runs off the board, lol. But it totally works! You also have to trim the flaps a bit too, so there's no overlap. Good luck! Bravo & Border Blooms Stamp Sets; Something Borrowed DSP; Sahara Sand & Whisper White CS; Sahara Sand Ink; Silver Baker's Twine; Something Borrowed Embellishment; Basic Jewel Jumbo Rhinestones (retired). Hello Life Kit Class March 12 or 14! I hope you can join us for our awesome upcoming class project made with the Hello Life Project Kit! We're making a St. Patrick's version for our first go! So, class is announced for Thursday March 12, 630 pm, chez Heroldt, and Saturday, March 14, 3 pm, also chez Heroldt. AND, because this is Spring Break week for so many of us with school-agers at home, please do just let me know if we can arrange a make-up class for you if you're interested - it is of course no problem! Class is $25, and includes your kit plus all supplies and specialty adhesives - just bring your usual stampin' kit to help out. Snacks and drinks will be standing by, as well as a gift from me! RSVP to reserve your kit today! Check out this week's tag-themed sketch from Retro Sketch #151! It will go perfect with this week's cool and manly color challenge from Create With Connie & Mary #340! AND we can sneak in this week's SU-per Challenge #74 to use baker's twine - woo hoo! A triple play! Since I knew I wanted to go manly, I naturally pulled out my new Guy Greetings set. So many fun little images in this one! My final result looked a little washed out to me, so I went back and layered the tag a little to give it some more pop. Fussy cutting all those cute hats was sure fun! Guy Greetings Stamp Set; Basic Gray, Lost Lagoon, Sahara Sand & Whisper White CS; Adventure Bound DSP stack; Basic Gray, Lost Lagoon & Sahara Sand Inks; Neutrals Button in Basic Gray (old style); Sahara Sand Candy Dots; Angled Tag Topper Punch; Basic Gray Baker's Twine. Fancy, fancy! Check out the cute sketch at this week's Retro Sketch #149! Now to make it sing with In{k}spire Me #181's sleek and modern color challenge! This color challenge made me think of my bug - she is SO not a girlie-girl, and this color scheme could be right up her alley. Anyway, it's hard to be a high school freshman, you know? She has made the transition with so much poise, I have to say. I am dumbfounded by how hard she works at staying on top of her school-work: she really wants to go to college over seas, so she enrolled in our International Baccalaureate program - it's a real back-breaker! She is really sustaining her commitment, too - I'd never be able to keep up the workload myself... So I decided a little encouragement card would be good to have on hand, to let her know how proud I am of her! I actually have the phrase "so proud of you" stamped inside as well, pieced together from the Crazy About You set. I have a feeling I'll be handing this over shortly - coming back from the Winter Break has been daunting, lol... Adventure Awaits & Crazy About You Stamp Sets; Smoky Slate, Whisper White & Basic Gray CS; Basic Gray Ink; Lucky Stars Embossing Folder; Ovals Collection Framelits; Occasions Piercing Template; White Tea Lace Doily; Neutrals Button in Smoky Slate; White Baker's Twine; Candu Dots in Smoky Slate; Moonlight DSP Pack on envelope. I hope you can join us for our next Pumpkin Club, Saturday, October 25, 3 pm, chez Heroldt - RSVP to let me know you are coming! Club is free for my subscribers, and includes any extra supplies you might need, drinks and snacks! Let's take this Pumpkin out to play! You're going to LOVE our projects! Remember to subscribe here if you haven't already - sign up by November 10 and you can join us in time for next month! You know what I found out from this month's My Pumpkin Challenge #0914 - What Makes You Smile? I smile I LOT! This week, I am smiling about my hard-working, brand spankin' new high school freshman, who has been seriously busting her butt and taking names, too! My little introverted grade-schooler is blossoming into a mature and fun-loving young lady, joining after school clubs, making new friends - stretching her wings! All while keeping up the grades - yeah! In our house, THE academic reward of choice is your own personal jar of Nutella, and is usually reserved for finals week. My little MVP has earned a mid-term jar! I'm so proud of you, bug! Good thing I could whip up a sparkly strawberry gift bag for you! Hint: I used two of the envelopes from this month's kit, adding a piece of matching CS for the gaps left in the bottom. So easy! Paper Pumpkin - Seriously Amazing; plus, Strawberry Slush CS & Ink. Pumpkin Club September 27! Did you get your September Pumpkin kit yet? Spooky! (Just a note, SU! tells me they're running a little late - DON'T PANIC! They'll be here JUST in time! Watch the video to see what's coming!) I hope you can join us for our next Pumpkin Club, Saturday, September 27, 3 pm, chez Heroldt - RSVP to let me know you are coming! Remember to subscribe here if you haven't already - sign up by October 10 and you can join us in time for next month! I really like the off-set layers in this week's Freshly Made Sketch #148 - reminds me of a sideways polaroid! And wouldn't you know it, I have a framelit for that! This seems like a good time to use my Snapshot stamp, too - SO fun to color in using the Blendas! I pretty much followed a coloring example I found in the catty - but I love the gradation I got our of it... Seemed like a fun pairing with the Bravo stamp set, too - I had a hard time picking out which sentiment I wanted to use! In the end, I went with one that looked like I could fussy cut pretty easily... Bravo & Snapshot Stamp Sets; Lullaby DSP; Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana & Whisper White CS; Baked Brown Sugar & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana & Smoky Slate Blendabilities; On Film Framelits; Large Polka Dots Embossing Folder; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. This class costs $25, and includes all supplies for the 6 different cards shown, an instruction sheet for you to keep, your own copy of the new 2014 Holiday Mini Catalog, snacks, libations and MUCH merriment! Time for one last round of parties at My Pumpkin Challenge #0714 - Celebrate! So, I finally got around to that spinner card I promised back at our last Pumpkin Club - how could we have such an awesome pinwheel kit and not make them spin on a card?? I also decided to play with my card shape on this one - and use my envelope punch board to make a custom envelope for it - not that I'll ever mail this beauty, lol... This is definitely destined to join my seasonal hall table decor! Rather than go back over the basic directions for a spinner here, you can go to this link for a Christmas card class we did an age ago, that had a spinning ginger bread man, lol... But here are the extra notes for this card: My card base is 6" x 6", folded in half for a 3" x 6" finished base. For the pinwheel, I cut down the basic pinwheel shape by an inch on all sides, to make it small enough for a card. As it is, it still wants to hang over the card edge when it spins, but that's ok since you have to be holding it up to tilt it back and forth anyway, lol... After you adhere all your spinning apparatus, bend your pinwheel wings up slightly, so it has enough clearance to spin freely... Make sure to get your last Pumpkin Celebrations in - I can't wait to see your creations! Paper Pumpkin Pinwheel Party; plus, Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Real Red Ink; Word Window Punch; DSP Paper Stack in Real Red (retired, for envelope.) Wow, Clean & Simple #300 is a BIG milestone! Think that influenced this week's sketch, lol? Think I'll pair this one with In{k}spire Me #157's elegant colors... In keeping with this week's awesome achievement, I decided a big 'ole cangrats was in order! I love the over-sized sentiments in our new Bravo set - and they made answering this challenge a snap. Honestly, I spent more time "conditioning" my stamp then making this card, lol. Thanks for the awesome challenges, ladies, and congrats on your achievement! Here's to the next 300! Bravo & Wish Big Paper Pumpkin Stamp Sets; Pink Pirouette, Smoky Slate & Whisper White CS; Rose Red, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate & Pink Pirouette Inks; 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain in Basic Gray. |
