![]() Does everyone I know understand how much I love layering banner shapes? I LOVE it when a sketch does that, like this week's Sunday Stamps #100! That said, let's face it - I have ended up with a strange little arrangement of banners here, I think. I like it - don't get me wrong - but boy-howdy, I struggled with this one! I finally settled on trotting out the special-release-photopolymer set You're Wonderful, which, since it's now sold out, I am lumping into this year's "retiring" stamps. I think technically I have more time, but hey, you can't get it anymore, so what's the use in pretending, lol? Plus, I've always felt like the flowers in this set pair up so perfectly with this DSP... You're Wonderful Stamp Set; Gold Soiree Specialty DSP; Pistachio Pudding, Calypso Coral & Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Garden Green & Calypso Coral Inks; Wild Wasabi & Calypso Coral Blendies (discontinued): Banners Framelits; Banner Punch; Jumbo (retired) & Basic Jewel Pearls. ![]() Pumpkin Club May 2! ![]() Make sure you check out the designer samples over at Retro Sketches #162 - can't wait to try this one myself! I think it will go great with Create With Connie & Mary #352's cool and breezy color challenge... So, along the cool & Breezy lines, I couldn't help thinking of Lovely Amazing You for this challenge, both for the sentiment I chose, and the crisp little envelope shape to fit that little block on the sketch - it seemed perfect! The Painted Blooms DSP also had some of the colors I needed, including the lovely Soft Sky-washed panel I used for my sentiment - not sure how well it will show in the picture, but it has a lot of depth in person. I kept everything pretty clean and simple, and I love how it came out... Lovely Amazing You Stamp Set; Painted Blooms DSP; Soft Sky, Basic Gray & Whisper White CS; Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi & Basic Gray Inks; Owl Builder & Corner Rounder Punches; Subtles Button in Soft Sky; Stitched Grosgrain in Basic Gray. ![]() Pumpkin Club May 2! And I think it will go great with this week's Nacho Average Color Challenge #138, too! So, I wanted to try and make some effort to feature some retiring stamp sets for you all from here on out, and this color challenge made me think I could slip in our hostess set, Nuts About You. Tree colors - check. Squirrel color - check. Accessories and goodies in the right colors - check check! I did some fussy cutting to slip in the most colors with the least mess - I'm all butter-fingers today with my markers! Don't know what that's about, since the scissors seemed to go ok, lol... Nuts About You Stamp Set; Birthday Bash Specialty DSP; Whisper White & Early Espresso CS; Early Espresso, Mellow Moss & Cajun Craze Inks; 3/4" & 7/8" Circle Punches; Color Me Autumn Washi Tape; Early Espresso Baker's Twine. ![]() Pumpkin Club May 2! LOVE that scatter of stars! So, on my search for the perfect stamp set for this challenge, I was totally struck by Tap Tap Tap! Yes! I could do all the little keys for my "scatter!" And yes, I know, I have set a new record for the "PITA" card, lol, and I'm not afraid to admit it... I had to dig DEEP through my circle punch drawers looking for three different tiny-sized punches. Then I needed to dress up the typewriter, and of course, we had to go "black and white and read all over," yuk yuk. I had so much fun with this card today! Thank goodness the cat didn't come investigate while I worked on the letter keys... Tap Tap Tap Stamp Set; Typeset Specialty DSP; Very Vanilla & Basic Back CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Smoky Slate & Real Red Inks; Real Red 1/4" Grosgrain (retired); 3/8" & 1/4" Circle Punches; plus Owl Builder Punch. ![]() I'm so excited about this super cute sketch at Nacho Average Challenge #137! I'm going to try to combine it with Sunday Stamps #99's inspiration challenge, too! So for the sketch, I knew I wanted to do something really different with the circle shapes. A quick browse got me to Just Sayin', which I matched in the colors from the inspiration challenge. I like how it came out! I added some tiny details, and of course, a big 'ole extra neutral, but hey, neutrals don't count, right? I'm sure there's some Crumb Cake in that picture somewhere, lol! Just Sayin' Stamp Set; Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Wisteria Wonder, Wild Wasabi & Pink Pirouette CS; Wisteria Wonder, Pink Pirouette & Wild Wasabi Inks; Word Bubbles Framelits; Happy Heart Embossing Folder; Bird Builder, Owl Builder & Itty Bitty Accents Flower Punches; Basic Jewel Pearls. ![]() This week's Fab Friday #62 is upon us! Check out this elegant sketch! I think I'll try to create it under the Clean & Quick challenge this week at Can You Case It #65... I decided this week I wanted to feature a BIG sentiment, and one that jumps out at me often is this pretty and curvy one from the Hello Life stamp set. I love it! In the spirit of this thought, I also decided to go completely self-indulgent, lol: note the purple and green color combo, the fiddly fussy cutting, and the multi-sized bling. That's right folks, it's all about ME today! I can't wait to see YOUR Fab creations at the challenge this week - let's see it! Hello Life Stamp Set; Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz & Whisper White CS; Crumb Cake, Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral & Pear Pizzazz Inks; Early Espresso 7/8" Satin Ribbon; Subtles Button in Calypso Coral; 1/4" Cotton Ribbon in Pear Pizzazz; Basic Jewel Rhinestones & Jumbo Rhinestones (retired); Corner Rounder Punch. ![]() Here we are with take two of Clean & Simple #6! I think I'll pair it with this week's subtle color challenge at Can You Case It #64! I decided I wanted to reverse what may have been a more expected color order, and work with a black background - how to make the colors pop? This turned out to be SO hard, because I just don't have that many different papers or supplies in the challenge colors. I finally remembered that the Valentine's DSP Stacked With Love had Crisp Cantaloupe in it, and I figured I would do the sentiment in Pistachio Pudding. I had to fake it a tiny bit by using the palest Wild Wasabi blendie to color my white emboss for part of it. I think it matches really well! It still needed just a touch of something, and a quick dig through a stack of pumpkin boxes got me these pistachio sequins from All Shook Up. Yum! Crazy About You Stamp Set; Stacked With Love DSP; Whisper White, Pistachio Pudding & Basic Black CS; White Craft Ink; White Embossing Powder; Pale Wild Wasabi Blendie (discontinued); 1" Square Punch; Hello You Thinlets; Pistachio Pudding Sequins from All Shook Up Paper Pumpkin. ![]() Mother's Day Corsage Class I am so excited to announce this class - and I'm THRILLED with how our project came out! You will be, too! This month we will be making a beautiful corsage for that special lady in your life: Mom, BFF, inspiration in your life (maybe even yourself - you deserve it!) - to wear again and again. The corsage is made up with a sample of each flower type in the gorgeous Build A Bouquet Project kit from our Occasions Mini catalog, and comes with a hat pin and stopper for fixing in place. I have prepped each kit for us, and divvied everything out ahead of time to make this class ride on rails: I'll be working right along with you to help further explain all the tricks I learned along the way! Class is still on for Saturday, April 11, 3 pm, chez Heroldt. Class is $20, and includes all supplies and instructions, plus snacks, drinks and a gift! Just bring your usual kit, and a hot glue gun! RSVP now so I can make sure to have your supplies prepped and ready for you! (And be sure to let me know if you need different dates - I'm always happy to work with your schedule!) ![]() Now we can get our pumpkin started with this month's My Pumpkin Challenge 0415 - Sew Pretty, Sew Simple! I think it'll be fun to match with this week's fancy sketch at In{k}spire Me #192! I had to rotate the sketch to make this work out, of course, but still, it seems to have worked out pretty well! I only added a couple accessories from outside the Pumpkin Kit, and I did go shopping for an alternate sentiment. Fun times! The biggest challenge I'm finding in this kit is how to dress the envelopes - on this card, I embossed the flap with some dots to accompany the dotted background of my "salvaged" card base, lol... Paper Pumpkin - Sew You; plus, Peachy Keen Stamp Set; Daffodil Delight, Pool Party & Whisper White CS; Pool Party Ruffle Ribbon; Subtles Buttons in Pool Party; Snowflake Card Thinlet; Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. ![]() Mother's Day Corsage Class I am so excited to announce this class - and I'm THRILLED with how our project came out! Time to look over the shapes at my disposal! While I really felt the tug of all the gorgeous flowers I have, I decided to try out some stars - and play with some of Brights colors! Once I made those decisions, it all just sort of came together pretty quick, I have to say. I so enjoy the "hand-sketched" feel of the stars in the Be The Star stamp set - so fun!
