![]() OK, everyone, we're almost there - only one more Paper Pumpkin after this one! And then, of course, the next kit will come, lol... But I'll make sure to spread them out better next time, I promise! So, this Freshly Made Sketch #84 OF COURSE screamed "Hey There, Friend" to me, because of the little flag shape - that was one of the exact elements in the March Paper Pumpkin! The sketch gods are calling for more Pumpkins, I swear! I added a bit of color to brighten things up even more - but even so, this card took 5 minutes flat! Just enough time to squeeze in before the PTO meeting! March 2013 Paper Pumpkin - "Hey There"; Old Olive & Tempting Turquoise CS; Tempting Turquoise & Basic Black inks; 1/4" grosgrain in Old Olive; self-adhesive Rhinestones.

![]() So, I've been thinking about Stampin' Up's! 25 year anniversary Convention a lot today - "Be The Difference" is the theme. Registration opens Tuesday, and I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. Thinking about it made me feel nostalgic for the only other SU! event I've ever attended - the Phoenix Regional in 2012. My first ever swap won a Shelli's Choice prize (woo, me! I am still smit!) which made me think of this stamp set, which is how I put together today's card for Clean & Simple #236. Was that story too convoluted?? What can I say, I'm a bit distracted with Convention Registration coming up! EEEeeeEEE! Send Me Soaring (retired) stamp set; Pool Party, So Saffron & Whisper White CS; Floral District DSP; Scallop Circles #2 die; Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder & Pool Party inks; self-adhesive Jumbo Pearls. ![]() I'll be honest - I really struggle with the last release of In Colors, and particularly with this one - Summer Starfruit. So of course, when I saw the color challenge at Fab Friday #16 this week, I was a little worries. Their little honeycomb presentation always makes it LOOK so nice, though, I knew I had to give it a try! So, I paired it up with this week's Retro Sketch #81, and away I went! Not too shabby... Perfectly Preserved & From My Heart stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Pool Party & Whisper White CS; Sycamore Street DSP; Cannery Set framelits; Calypso Coral ink; Neutrals brads, self-adhesive pearls; 1/4" organdy in Calypso Coral (retired). ![]() Can you tell I'm ready for Summer? Open the pool! Bring on the smoothies! Where's my cabana boy?! LOL, this phrase from the "From My Heart" stamp set is pretty much my mantra these days, but I know that summer is just around the bend! Whew. Make sure to check out the other great entries at Paper Craft Crew Challenge #37! From My Heart stamp set; Lucky Limeade, Whisper White & Rich Razzleberry CS; Summer Smooches DSP; Labels Collection framelits; 1/4" stitched grosgrain in Daffodil Delight; self-adhesive rhinestones. ![]() And check it OUT! Stampin' Up! has released a second photopolymer stamp set - called "Bombs Away Birthday!" Hilarious! Click on the flyer to get all the deets, $13.95 for a stamp set of 7! ![]() Just making it under the wire again for this week's Sunday Stamps Sketch #42 - I must really be maxed out with enough sketch challenges! I really liked this sketch for a chance to play with some of the SUPER CUTE DSP in the Sunshine & Sprinkles paper pack - I originally got this to use on our April Showers Shadow Box project, but I've been sneaking it in all over the place these days! And of course, such a sunny paper display needs a sunny sentiment, too! Pursuit of Happiness stamp set; Lucky Limeade & Daffodil Delight CS & inks; Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP; Vanilla Flower trim; green perle cotton. ![]() I decided to tackle this week's Freshly Made Sketch #78 using all the cute bits and pieces that came in my very first Paper Pumpkin kit - the "Hey There Try It" kit. Of course, I had to add some extras - I know these kits are made to be a kind of intro to Stampin' Up!, and they really are put together with the customary finesse that SU! always uses, but hey (friend!) what's a bit more? I added some extra colors, a bit of ribbon, a bit of bling, doctored some of the cool adhesive elements that came with the kit, and hey-presto, here we are, and using colors that are definitely outside my usual pallet. Cool! Hey There Paper Pumpkin Kit (stamp, DSP, card base, button & stickers) plus Tempting Turquoise & Tangerine Tango CS; Scallop Border & 7/8" Circle punches; Floral Frames framelits; Old Olive ink; Old Olive 1/4" grosgrain; self-adhesive Rhinestones. ![]() Finally! I got to use the little pair of jeans! Yay! I think this sentiment's font style goes perfectly with them as well - sort of Western, maybe... Not very lacy/doily like the sketch - but that's what sketch challenges are all about, right? Thank you Paper Craft Crew #34! Patterned Occasions & Vintage Verses stamps sets; Whisper White & Island Indigo CS; Sycamore Street DSP; Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango & Rich Razzleberry inks; 1/4" Island Indigo satin ribbon; Jumbo eyelets in Pewter. ![]() OK, working on today's sketch, I had a clear goal in mind - use the two stamp sets that have been waiting listlessly for ink on my desk for a few weeks now - by hook or by crook! I actually went to sleep planning this card last night, knowing I was facing another color challenge this morning! The really funny thing is that all these colors are out on the class table right now for this week's Easter class - so maybe I'm starting to channel color challenges better! I do love, love, LOVE this combo - so fresh and Spring-y! Perfect for putting out the Easter decor today! Beyond Plaid & Ciao, Baby! stamp sets; Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Pink Pirouette, Shara Sand & Lucky Limeade CS & inks; Petite Curly Label punch; 1/8" organdy in Lucky Limeade (retired.) ![]() For today's starting point, I browsed through my "new to me" pile of stamps - having stamps that are "ink virgins" is a capital crime around here! Using a Fab Friday #12's color challenge made it even more interesting - how to make a color challenge NOT look like a color challenge? That's my newest strategy on these! I've been wanting to ink up these elegant feathers ever since last year's Phoenix Regional - I saw some really cute projects with them that I totally fell in love with, then let fall by the wayside. So having a challenge to make me forge my own territory was just right! En Francais, Morning Post Alphabet & Fine Feathers stamp sets; Perfect Plum, Wild Wasabi & Very Vanilla CS; Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon; self-adhesive pearls. ![]() OK, I'll be honest. Making this card for Clean & Simple #228 made me laugh like a loon the whole time. But it totally happened because the sketch designer advised to use a short word, of no more than 3 or 4 letters. Her card was the cutest thing! She used "love," on a Valentine's card, and I think I've already mentioned how I'm burnt on Valentine's now. So I sat and stewed for a while: "Well, what other short words ARE there?? I can't think of anything!" Then inspiration struck, and it went downhill from there. Neo from Matrix would be proud, I like to think... Spec-tacular & Pure Gumption stamp sets; Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler & Whisper White CS; Cherry Cobbler baker's twine; Timeless Type Junior sizzlets. |
